Nyungwe forest national park is one of the few remaining tropical mountainous rain forests in Africa located in south western part that hosts about 13 primate species that include habituated Chimpanzees, Rare Angolan Colobus monkey, l’hoest monkey, owl faced, baboons, red tailed monkeys among others which are always visited on foot. Some of them being rare this range. Besides primates the forest is rich in terms of bird life with excellent opportunities to see variety of fascinating bird species some of them being endemic to the Albertine rift region hosting around 310 bird species. Besides these visitors are open to nature walks to see waterfalls, Forest canopy walk, as well as enjoying culture of people who stay adjacent to this forest.
Akagera national park; this is Rwanda savanna park located in eastern edge of the country founded in 1934 to protect animals and vegetation in three habitats namely Savanna , mountain, and swamps focusing on big game, It currently offers opportunities to see big game such as; Elephant, giraffes, Zebra, lions, leopards, and variety of various Antelope species. It is recognized as one of the best bird watching spot in Rwanda. The varied habitats in this park make it easy for bird lovers to find both savanna and water birds with opportunities to see crocodiles and hippopotamus when visitor take a boat ride along the lake within this park.
